Yesterday was very balanced and I think I needed a day like that to show me I don’t have to be all one or the other. Recently I’ve been struggling between wanting to be really productive at work and searching for a job when I get home, but then I all of a sudden jump into a mindset where I realize I’m in a unique position and need to take every advantage of it. It clear I’ve been struggling to find the equilibrium on that continuum, thankfully yesterday forced me to find it.

My morning was a slow one, like others this past week. I haven’t been exercising much this week and I’ve noticed a toll on my sleep quality. I finally got rolling around 9:00am and took a second breakfast of samosa, chapati, and tea. After that I spend most of my day at the office, doing some job (and soul) searching. I’m getting a little stressed about returning home with no job prospect, but I think as long as I keep taking the right steps something will eventually work out—it always seems to go that way for me.
At 2:30pm I finally got my opportunity to go to Jambo Zoo and it was not a let down!

I was instantly struck by how restrictive the environment was for the animals. I haven’t been to a zoo for a while, and after having experienced the safari with Lucas, seeing wild animals in this type of habitat is truly sad. It took some effort, but I knew I had to overcome these feelings because in reality there’s nothing I can do to change how things are.

What was super cool, and I didn’t understand this before, is that it was a walk through zoo, so we were in the enclosures with all the animals. Except for the lion of course, who happened to have arrived just the night prior.

It was cool getting to be up close with all the animals. Unfortunately the person I went with wanted to take a lot of picture of herself using my phone, so I didn’t really have control over it and didn’t get the chance to take many photos of the animals. Im happy I got a picture feeding a giraffe though, isn’t that so cool?!?!

After the two hours exploring the zoo my friend and I took off back to Shinyanga. I often run out to the zoo along my route and had been hoping to visit, so I’m glad I finally got the chance. It was also much quicker getting out and back on a motorcycle than by foot which was nice.
Last night was another night of bad sleep which I’m a little disappointed about, so I’m getting a late start on the day. Hopefully I’ll find the energy to go for a run this evening so I can break this cycle. Also, exciting news, I got added to a hood to coast team for late August, so I guess I need to be training for that!
