I have a nice routine going these days. Yesterday seemed to follow it to a tee.
I woke up at 6am and got ready for the day. I did some duolingo to practice my Swahili—I’m finding that applying my learning from a language app to the real world is not as smooth or effective as I would have hoped. At 7:30 I sat down for breakfast and took about 20 minutes eating. My walk to work took no more than 10 minutes and I arrived right at 8:00am.
My day was typical of being in the office. I’m pretty ahead on everything I’m needing to get done, I’ve had some very efficient days recently, so there weren’t many pressing tasks that prompted me to stress out and lock in. My morning was super productive with getting even further ahead and I was happy to be assigned one new thing that I had to learn a new skill for. Past 1pm my day slowed down and my productivity levels sank.
The office is interviewing a bunch of new candidates right now, on top of preparing for a big upcoming, so everyone is super busy. I normally order my lunch along with some colleagues, but yesterday they had ordered a buffet style meal for everyone after the interviews were done. Unfortunately they didn’t finish until nearly 4pm, so I was left with hunger distracting me for almost two hours.

I left work at 5 sharp, went to the hotel, changed attire, and turned right back around to go for my run. I exercised for about an hour, took a shower and at that point it had reached 7:00pm. I dillydallied around for a bit, read and then was asleep by 9:30pm.
Truthfully nothing exciting about yesterday, but I enjoyed it very much and it was peaceful. Today should be similar, but I’m hoping to be more productive at work. We will see if I can make that wish come true!
