Yesterday was another pretty standard day at work, but took a fun turn after I left.

My morning went as usual, except that I didn’t eat alone. While I was wasting, a cute tabby cat sauntered on over to me and seemed to think I owed it some type of meal. Of course I gave it some of the meat from my beef and potato stew. Thankfully I’m a trained insider on the ways of kitty cat begging, so I knew that all the meowing was just a ploy and the poor thing wasn’t actually starving to death.

This was my view at work for most of the day. (I think this is the first time I’ve shared a picture of the office, sorry for holding out for so long). My morning was super productive. One of my revolving tasks is rebranding guidebooks and updating them with updated information regarding best practices and whatnot. I was able to chunk away at that.
My afternoon was also fairly productive. A little slower than I would have liked, but I still got some important things done. I got started on writing a report using all of the analyses I was doing the past weeks, so it was very rewarding to be piecing together multiple things into one big project.
You know, I really need to read up on ergonomics. If I’m going to be sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day for at least the next two and a half months (and probably longer), it would be good to know how to combat low productivity and poor bodily health caused by all the immobility. My neck was really stiff the first few days like this, but I think the runs have been helping. It’s still not great though.

After work I went to grab my Kaunda from the tailor I had gone to my first week here. It fit nicely, hopefully I’ll remember to take a picture with it on when I wear it this coming week. The labor for the suit cost 20,000 Tsh (or $8 USD) and the fabric only 5,000 Tsh more than that. So, in all, I paid under $20 for the outfit. You can bet that if it wears well and I like it, I’m going to be getting a lot more made!

From the tailor I went straight to my Danish buddy’s house. We made some burgers and fries. It ended up being a super late night—when he said come at 7:00pm for burgers I thought that meant we would be eating at 7, but no. We started cooking at 7 and it wasn’t until 9 that everything was done and we were eating. Would I have known this I probably would have stayed home, but today is a holiday so I can’t complain too much.

It was another late night motorcycle ride back home. I got to the hotel at 10:30pm and quickly went through my bed time routine to get to sleep around 11:00pm. Overall the day was fine, but the staying out late takes a toll on me. Luckily today is a holiday so I was able to sleep in. I don’t have much of a plan, I’m thinking maybe a hair cut and some work will fit nicely into the schedule, but I’ll just have to see how I feel after breakfast.
