Yesterday I was busy running around. I didn’t really do much—I was just along for the ride. I slept in 2 extra hours!!! I woke up at 6 but forced myself back to sleep because I was feeling pretty tired through the week. Those extra hours weren’t great sleep, I kept tossing and turning, but, it was better than nothing.
I thought I was going to be late waking up for breakfast, but when I got over to the house most everyone was still sleeping. The morning was peaceful. I was able to get a lot of chores done; I started my laundry, washed my bathroom, put some clean sheets on my bed, and organized my shelves that had started to get messy.
Before I went out with Lucas for a bit, I had helped Abby do the dishes. I don’t know how she and Grace do it—they normally stand up and bend over these basins—but I needed a bucket to sit on because my back started hurting after only a few minutes of trying to imitate her. Lucas and I went to his school site. The wall is just about finished, but the rain is delaying the project a bit. The ground has become soggy with the recent storms and driving any car into the swamp-like mud is a no-go. I went along with him while he did some other tasks. At one point he saw a house under construction that he liked and we stopped to look at it.
After getting home I went with Jovin and Rebecca to get their hair cut. There are many small barbers around the area where we live, but they go to this fancy shop in Arusha proper.
I then went to see my buddy Ally at his home. This is the guy who just got married, so I think he’s excited to show off his new life and home as a married man. He had to do some work on his car while I was there; I provided moral support and stories because I’m sure I would only make problems worse if I offered my mechanic skills.
Ally’s home is very nice. It’s funny how people build here. They don’t save up to finish a home all at once, the building process is a constant and as people can afford to add things, they do.
I went home after having some dinner at Ally’s house to have a second dinner. I got to sleep a little later than I would have liked and woke up a little earlier than I prefer, so today I’m feeling a bit tired. Hopefully I’ll straighten out alright and get going soon!
