DAY 57

Yesterday flew past. I was walking to school at 7:00, looked up and then I was on a bus going home. Normally fast days mean busyness—this pattern applies to yesterday. I got to school and was thrown into the class 7 testing room. I had to be in music though, so I was flustered trying to find someone to cover my proctoring. Music went swell. Class 3 is rough to teach, they really don’t have the dexterity needed for guitar. And, very few have large enough hands to even play the mini guitars we have; all hope is lost of them playing an electric guitar this year. However, it’s really forcing me to problem solve and find individual solutions for each kid. It’s hard and very demanding, but I love it. It’s so rewarding when even just one kid figures something out and progresses just a bit. After music there was a school debate about urban or rural areas and which offers better living conditions. But, Ezekia and I were using these two extra hours to work more with the star students and push them to be able to perform soon.

Debate

I was able to catch a little bit of the debate and I was actually impressed with the efficiency of it. It’s hard to get this number of kids to be settled for an hour straight.

Scratch what I said about the rain being convenient and considerate two days ago. (In the debate picture you can see the storm coming in).

Poorly Timed Storm

Right as the busses were filling up with kids, starting the engines, and getting ready to leave—boom. This untimely monsoon decided to roll in. A load of new tables loaded in our bus made matters worse. The plan was to unload the tables and load in the kids; rain prevented one, in turn preventing the other. This may be a better fate than what other kids were stuck with. Most kids had already been loaded into their bus and weren’t allowed to get out once the storm started. It lasted about an hour—delaying every busses’ departure—and made the roads very poor. Thankfully we were able to go home and we didn’t get stuck. We did have to take the long route more often than not. We normally end the route around 4:30, yesterday it nearing 6:00 when we arrived home.

Deliciousness

My dinner last night was this massive combination of all my favorite foods. A little rice and meat. A little banana stew. Some chips. And a nice glass of juice. I went to bed pretty with a full belly and slept very well. This morning I got an extra hour of sleep before school; I didn’t have to go on the bus route! Today should be fun and exciting!
