DAY 198

Yesterday morning I arrived back in Arusha! After a long bus ride and zero hours of sleep, I’m surprised how well I was feeling. I think I was just really excited to get back. It’s a nice full circle moment, but it also signifies a step closer to coming home.

I was warmly welcomed, but didn’t have too much time to catch up because I ate some food and went straight to sleep. I slept through some commotion apparently because Lucas had a group of 15ish Safari guests over for a lunch and I didn’t hear a thing. I logged about 5 hours of sleep which definitely wasn’t enough, but it kept me going for the rest of the day.

Football Stadium

I went for my daily run after the long nap. I made it out to where the African Football Cup stadium is being built and was stopped by some construction activities. Yesterday’s run was some great practice for hood to coast when I’ll be having to run with disturbed sleep.

Wedding #3

The evening was spent at yet another wedding. This one was a fellow teacher from Hope School who was finally getting married. And yes, this was the wedding that I almost traveled to see about a month ago… Again, I was picked on a little bit—being the only white person there—and made to dance and carry gifts and whatnot, but it came with the perk of privilege in that I was part of the first cohort of people to get food.

We got home from the wedding way too late (at 1:30am) and I went straight to sleep. Today I slept in until around 10:00am and still feel a little tired. Thankfully I have the day to rest and recover—hopefully I’m up for all the commotion of school tomorrow!
