DAY 126

Yesterday was perfectly uneventful. It went just how I wished and gave me a warm, relaxing welcome to the city of Shinyanga.

Walk to Work

I aimed to wake up early yesterday morning, but failed to do so on account of my need for sleep. My alarm pulled me from my dreams at 6am, but I was quick to turn it off and instantly fell back asleep, still exhausted. I hadn’t set another one, so I was lucky to wake up naturally with the noise of the busy streets around me at 7. I hastened to eat breakfast, wishing not to be late for my first day of full work here at the office and then set off.

I estimated my walk to work would take about 15 minutes the day prior as I was taken from there to my hotel, but my brain was clearly foggy because it only took me five minutes walking at a leisurely pace.

Work was very boring and my only complaint is that it added to my tiredness. Other than that, I was happy to have a boring day. I met more of my coworkers, thankfully in less delirium this time, able to remember some names and be more energetic for meeting the team. I finished my manganese literature review which had been hanging over my head as a brain numbing task I dreaded finishing, but yesterday provide the perfect opportunity. It did take about 7 hours just to find research for one paragraph of writing, but it’s done now and I don’t have to look back at it if I don’t want to.

Run

I got home from work and went for a short run. I tried to get into this habit in Hawassa but failed. So far I’m one for one, I’m hoping I can keep that going here.

By the time I got home and showered it was 7:30 and I still had some things I wanted to get done. This whole J-O-B thing gets in the way of life sometimes, but I guess I gotta do what I gotta do. Today should be fun, I was invited to a dancing thing after work by a coworker (I think…), so that will be new! Otherwise, I’m still hoping for an inactive day at work because my body and mind are still feeling fatigued and recovering from my travels.
