Time is starting to fly here in Hawassa. I think being busy is the cause of that.

Yesterday was a normal day. I left for work around 7:45 and arrived at 8:00. I really enjoy having a short walk to work—if I need extra sleep or want to go home during the day it’s possible.

I had a brief meeting in my office yesterday in the form of this cat. It has leapt through one of the open windows and seemed pretty panicked to find me inside the room and then hurried out the open door. Other than that, work was normal. I’m reading a lot of journal articles right now, slowly building my confidence with the academic language being used. For example, I learned the difference between cognitive effects, neurodevelopment impacts, and behavioral outcomes yesterday (don’t ask me to explain it though).

After work I took short walk to the nearby market. It was bustling with more people than usual yesterday. I bought some potatoes for my dinner and passed up on the mangoes because they looked a bit brown and soft. I then got my beef and hurried on home because the sky looked like it wanted to rain.

Last night I discovered a successful way to utilize the mosquito net I found. I’m definitely going to need some design adjustments—last night I kept rolling over and disrupting the tent structure—so if any engineers out there have some recommendations, please send em my way. My only idea is to get some rope, connect it to the apex point of the net, and then find some magical way to attach the other end of the rope to the ceiling. Anyways, I’m just thankful that I have something to deter the bugs, even if it is only half functional.
