My time here in Shinyanga is quickly coming to a close. It doesn’t really feel like I’ve been here for the past two months (and some change)—I’ve become so comfortable that it seems much longer.

Yesterday at work there was a whole organization meeting. It went much smoother than I expected; spanning 4 continents and 7 countries I thought something was bound to go wrong, but I guess I was the one who was wrong. It was entertaining and informative at first, but then the clock hands ticked past 5:00pm and I mentally checked out.

After the meeting we took an all staff picture because everyone was branded up. I know I still stand out among the group, but everyone has been joking about how I am now an African at heart with the way I act and speak Swahili. I’m happy I got the chance to capture a picture with everyone I’ve been working with over the past few months—they’ve become like a third family and it felt a little like a farewell even though I have a couple more days ahead.
