Yesterday flew past me. In general, time has been acting funny. My days are moving extremely quick; it feels like I go to work, go to sleep, and then repeat it. But when I look back at this past week in Shinyanga, for that’s all that it’s been, Im so shocked to think it’s been only seven days. The same thing happened in Hawassa, and I’m sure it did in Arusha, but it’s just so interesting to me. I think it’s just that the experiences at the start of my stays are so novel and different that they hold more weight in my memory, and therefore make time feel longer during those periods. Anyways, I can’t believe it’s only been a week despite how full and fast my days have been.

Yesterday I woke up extremely well rested after a generous amount of sleep. My body was super stiff—I think I reached the edge of exercise before needing a rest day—and I was happy to find time for some morning stretching. I’m real efficient with my morning routine these days (from rising to leaving it wouldn’t take me more than 15 minutes if I wanted), so with my extra time I have to ability to get a lot done. Yesterday I was able to do some more laundry and read for a bit. Finally it was time for breakfast—which I showed up to later than normal—and I was pleased to find this wild array of foods. About half of the items there I would deem as breakfast foods, but it was tasty all the same.

My day at work was nothing irregular. No field visit to make it exciting, though. I spent my morning—up until 2pm—doing some qualitative analysis of in depth interviews. A late lunch arrived at 2 and I was very excited for it because the past two days in the field we had skipped lunch. Unfortunately it came later than I would have liked, but I don’t have much say on the timing seeing as I don’t go to the restaurant down the street to order the food.
The rest of my day was boring. I had a meeting to get some new tasks assigned to me which will keep me busy. I got home and did some laundry, skipped my run, read for a while, and then went to sleep around 9pm. I think that was a good decision because this morning we’re going out into the field early and I don’t want to be tired for that. It’s fine if I’m tired while sitting at the desk, but being tired out in the field would ruin the whole experience.
