Yesterday marked four months of my journey here in Africa, and my last day in Hawassa. This morning I leave Hawassa around 10:00 to spend the day in Addis Ababa and then off to Tanzania later this evening. It would have also marked the halfway point of my travels, but that milestone passed, unnoticed, a few weeks ago before I adjusted my schedule.

I woke up feeling very good. Although I’m happy to be moving on from Hawassa, I was aware that yesterday would serve as a goodbye to the city I called my home for a month.
As my Mondays go, it was great to be back at work. I was very productive throughout the day and didn’t think too much about my leaving.

The monkey gang made a visit to the office again. Thankfully they stayed out of the rooms, but still jumped around on the roof and made quite the racket.

For dinner I took some of the WFG team out to dinner. I’m typically bad at goodbyes—I lean towards the Irish type. But, following how upset some people were in Arusha with my somewhat prompt and quick goodbyes (even though I’m going back and didn’t see the need for a grand goodbye), I swore to learn from that mistake. It felt good to have a proper close on my time here. Although I will go to say goodbye to others at the office this morning before I leave, I’m still happy I had the chance to get my friends together and appreciate all they had done for me.
I was up pretty late packing so I’m a bit more tired than usual this morning. Unfortunately I have 24+ hours of travel until I reach Shinyanga. Hopefully all goes smooth!
