DAY 106

Yesterday was nice. First day back at the office after the field visits.

Walk to Work

I had missed my morning routine. Unfortunately the power went out right as I was making my eggs. I just cracked them into the pan when the stove snapped off and I was a bit sad to miss my breakfast, but it was okay because work had some snacks. We had a meeting with the local university about an upcoming project, and it was very difficult for me to keep up with my lack of knowledge.

For lunch everybody went out to a nice restaurant on the lake. I think I’m slowly building my spice tolerance; the first week I was in Ethiopia I had a hard time with some foods because they were pretty hot, but now I seem to be doing better.

After Work

I stayed pretty late at work. After the field visits and lack of WiFi, there were some things that I felt were piling up. I got out around 6:00 and went to the market for my beef and bananas.

Evening View

I was happy to find the power back up when I got home, I was not happy to find I left the stove on and had ruined the pan I had bought just a week ago. Thankfully there was a backup and I was able to make my dinner just fine. I sat out on my patio here, but I quickly learned that that was a mistake with all the mosquitoes flying about.

Today I’m going out to tour a bit of the city and do some sight seeing. It should be nice to have a day of exploring the town, I’m excited to get to know Hawassa better.
