Yesterday was great. After 12 hours of sleep I was feeling like the jet lag was gone—it wasn’t until like 6pm that it hit me again, but at that point I was back to the hotel and ready for dinner.

I left for the office around 8:30 and started work at 9:00. I think I’m going to be falling into that 9-5 life over the next few months (other than when I go out into the field). I spent the morning with Alex who gave me an overview of the company and some training with the data collection systems used. After about three hours we went for a lovely walk around the campus that the office building is located inside of. We found our way to this great river walk, and Alex told me the government is planning to create river walkways along all the rivers throughout the city. We made our way to lunch, the same place as the previous day.

After lunch we spent about another hour on the systems learning stuff, and we called it a day.

On the drive home I noticed a bunch of trucks lined up along the side of the road. Unfortunately they will stay like this for about a week, waiting in line for some gas to show up the station.

The concentration and intensity of the apartment building (and building in general) is so overwhelming to me. It’s crazy to think how many people must be living in the compounds.

When I got back to the hotel I had a bit more work to finish up. Around 6 I got pretty restless and decided it best to go out for a walk in search of dinner. I was very excited to run into this scene. I had been missing my urban cattle!

Dinner was great. And cheap. I paid about $4 USD for this sando and that feels like a steal. I’m going to be shocked by pricing when I get back to the US. I hit the sack fairly early and crashed. This morning Im getting on my final flight to Hawassa where I’ll be spending my next 2 months in Ethiopia.
