I had really missed being at school. It’s not that I was getting bored at home over break, I used my holiday productively and kept busy, it’s just that school is so unpredictable and keeps me on my toes.

Yesterday morning on the route we had to go save two bus loads of kids. The previous night had been stormy and filled with nonstop rain. The roads did not take well to the poor weather and turned into sloppy, muddy slip-n-slides. The bus on the left got stuck as they were trying to manage a three-point turn. The bus on the right made the mistake of going down the same soggy path. We got to school pretty behind schedule, but not terribly late. Our driver was smart and had mentally mapped out a safe route for us, knowing which roads get bad with the rain and which stay manageable.

The playground was flooded pretty good when we got to school. I was expecting more havoc around the building—leaky roofs, slippery stairwells, that kind of thing—but things had dried out pretty quickly except for the playground.
I’m happy to say I was able to get out of teaching English and hang out with my buddy Ezekia most of the day. Class 7 had exams yesterday that lasted all day, and they didn’t need me for proctoring or marking, so I got lucky. I really had wanted a slow and easy day—I got it. Ezekia and I played some music, marked the holiday homework package we had given to the kids, and prepared some materials for upcoming lessons.
I was still feeling sick throughout the day and it only really got better as school was ending. I went home early, hoping to rest, but my congested head was giving me a hard time. The same problem happened last night, preventing me from getting good sleep. I’m pretty tired this morning, but thankfully I’m feeling a bit better. Hopefully it’s another slow day so I can take it easy.
