Travel Journal

These are daily notes from my time in East Africa, where I’m living and working for the next few months. This space is where I document small moments, unexpected lessons, and meaningful images from my life along the way. Nothing here is meant to be overly polished—just honest reflections of the experience as it unfolds. Some days are quietly ordinary, others more reflective, but all of them belong here for my friends and family to experience alongside me.

Yesterday was a calm day. In the morning I found myself with no alarm set. Thankfully I woke up naturally at half past six, but even if I hadn’t I wasn’t worried—the streets wake up around 7am with revving motorcycles and shouting voices. Working Lunch At work I’m getting really...

DAY 139

Yesterday was a good day. But before I get into it, I’m going to give a warning. Some images are pretty graphic and disturbing as the holiday being celebrated was one called Eid al-Adha or the “Festival of Sacrifice”. So, just be warned that towards the end of today’s post...

DAY 138

Yesterday was another pretty standard day at work, but took a fun turn after I left. Breakfast Keeping me Company My morning went as usual, except that I didn’t eat alone. While I was wasting, a cute tabby cat sauntered on over to me and seemed to think I owed...
